A Flower with a Strange Name: Flowers and Greens Feature
Among the many blooms we at Flowers and Greens have in our shop, there is this one that interests us a lot.
Hi. Today’s blog features one of the most special flowers we use in our arrangements, Ranunculus.
We once read an article about it beginning with, well we think, a catchy and very peculiar name which in Latin means “little frog”. Now if you think, this is beginning to sound like Harry Potter. Fortunately, this flower is neither cursed nor has some spell bound to it. As the interest grew, we became fond of this flower and began purchasing from importers to include in our bunches for our customers, and you sure loved it.
Ranunculus is a spring bloom and is for a cool weather. An abundant supply of this comes from the south and west states like California, Nevada, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas. The flower can be included in a bunch as a special gift to someone or as a wedding bouquet. Now think about how unique that is.
What we find interesting about this is not only its name but its unique shape and its captivating color. Ranunculus has layers of thin blossoms painted in bright hues like red, orange and yellow. In fact, the flower’s main attraction is its vibrant paints that are even more stunning when you have a whole lot of it in sight.
We were fortunate enough to catch a first- hand look of a ranunculus field in this farm in California. We’re telling you, there’s so much magic about this flower more than its strange name.
